Corylus colurna
- Height: up to 20 m, occasionally up to 25 m
- Trunk: conspicuously fissured, scaly bark
- Leaves: round, heart-shaped to broadly ovate, 5–15 cm long, doubly serrated, heart-shaped at the base
- Flowers: yellow catkins up to 12 cm long, March to April
- Fruits/Seeds: spherical clusters, edible nuts (approx. 2 cm) with a bristly husk
