Catalpa bignonioides
- Height: up to 20 m
- Trunk: straight trunk, light brown to grey-brown bark, longitudinally fissured
- Crown: broad, irregularly shaped, open crown
- Leaves: opposite or in whorls of three, heart-shaped, pointed, entire margin, approx. 10–20 cm long, soft-haired on the underside, long-stalked
- Flowers: white, bell-shaped flowers in upright panicles, with yellow nectaries and purple spots, in June/July
- Fruits/Seeds: narrow, pendulous capsules up to approx. 30 cm long
