Leaves: alternate, imparipinnate leaves (up to 20 cm long) with 9–17 leaflets (each approx. 6 cm), oblong-oval, pointed individual leaflets, entire at the base, sharply toothed toward the tip, densely hairy or glabrous on the underside, petiolate up to 3 cm long

Buds: dark grey, woolly-haired, narrow and tightly closed

Flowers: large, creamy-white corymbs with many individual flowers in May/June, strongly fragrant, attractive to bees

Fruits/Seeds: spherical, scarlet to orange-colored apple-like fruits, up to approx. 1 cm in size, from August
