Fraxinus ornus
• Height: up to 25 m
• Trunk: smooth, grey, short, and branches early; sometimes shrub-like
• Crown: loose, rounded crown
• Leaves: opposite, imparipinnate leaves with 5–9 egg-shaped, pointed leaflets (each about 6 cm long), toothed at the margins, dull green on top, lighter underneath
• Buds: light grey to greyish-brown and finely hairy
• Flowers: white, fragrant, and borne in upright, dense panicles in May/June after leaf emergence
• Fruits/Seeds: light brown, narrowly winged nuts, approx. 2–3 cm long, hanging in clusters
