Pseudotsuga menziesii
- Height: up to 50 m, exceptions up to 80 m
- Trunk: initially smooth, dark to green-grey, with resin blisters; becomes increasingly fissured with age, black-brown; branches extending horizontally
- Crown: slender, conical, regular crown
- Leaves: spirally arranged, approx. 2–4 cm long, soft, non-prickly, and flat needles, slender, barely pointed, dark green on top, with two rows of silvery stomata on the underside, citrus-like scent when crushed
- Buds: pointed, conical, reddish-brown and glossy, not resinous
- Flowers: yellowish to reddish male flowers in clusters on the undersides of branches; greenish to reddish, upright female flowers in May
- Fruits/Seeds: hanging cones, approx. 5–10 cm long, with 3-lobed bracts, light brown when ripe
