Sorbus aria
- Height: up to 15 m
- Trunk: smooth, grey bark, later blackish-grey with long fissures
- Crown: dense, rounded to ovoid
- Leaves: alternate, oblong-oval, 6–9 cm long, base conical, leathery, margin unevenly double-serrated, upper surface dark green, initially hairy, lower surface silvery-hairy, short-stalked
- Flowers: creamy white, umbel-like inflorescences, sweet scent, in May/June
- Fruits/Seeds: mealy, orange-red, spherical fruits, up to approx. 1 cm, in clusters, in July/August
- Other: heat- and drought-tolerant, lime-tolerant, light-demanding species, bird-feeding shrub
