Pyrus communis
- Height: up to 15 m, exceptions up to 20 m
- Trunk: dark grey to blackish, barky, short shoots without thorns
- Crown: narrow, conical, later broader and pyramidal
- Leaves: alternate, broadly elliptical, pointed, 5–8 cm long, initially hairy, later glabrous, finely serrated margin, petiolate
- Flowers: white to pink, long-stalked, in clusters at the ends of branches, in April/May
- Fruits/Seeds: pear-shaped fruit, over 5 cm long, green, yellow, or brownish with fine dots, sweet and juicy flesh, thick-stemmed, in August/October
