Fraxinus spp.
- Height: up to 30 m, exceptions up to 40 m
- Trunk: Bark grey to olive-green when young, finely and shallowly furrowed when mature
- Leaves: opposite, imparipinnate leaves, with oval-lanceolate leaflets
- Buds: depending on the species, large, grey to black buds, with felt-like hairs
- Fruits/Seeds: winged nuts, hanging in clusters
- Other: Common disease is ash dieback, recognizable by dying branches, starting in the crown
