Ailanthus altissima
- Height: up to 25 m, fast-growing
- Trunk: often multi-stemmed, upright, smooth, grey-brown, slightly fissured bark
- Crown: broad, spreading
- Leaves: alternate, odd-pinnate, petiolate leaves, 40–90 cm long, leaflets with marginal glands (nectaries)
- Flowers: green, inconspicuous, panicle-shaped inflorescences, June to August, rich in nectar, valuable for pollinators
- Fruits/Seeds: yellowish-red nuts, broadly winged (dispersed by wind), often remain on the tree for a long time
