Tilia cordata
- Height: up to 40 m
- Trunk: grey-brown bark, longitudinally fissured with age
- Crown: broad, spreading, and rounded; very dense and varied in shape when mature
- Leaves: alternate, heart-shaped, 3–10 cm long, angled, finely serrated with dark green upper side, lighter underside with small tufts of dark hair in leaf vein axils
- Buds: green to reddish-brown, egg-shaped, with 2 scales
- Flowers: yellowish-white, in drooping, corymbose inflorescences, in June/July, strongly scented, valuable for pollinators
- Fruits/Seeds: small, spherical, felt-covered nut fruits (approx. 5 mm) with 1 wing, stemmed
