Styphnolobium japonicum

  • Height: up to 20 m
  • Trunk: longitudinally fissured bark
  • Crown: rounded, spreading widely with age
  • Leaves: imparipinnate, oval leaves
  • Flowers: fragrant, white flowers in large, loose panicles, rich in nectar, valuable for pollinators
  • Fruits/Seeds: string of pearls-like pods (approx. 8 cm) with black-brown seeds
  • Other: almost all parts of the plant (except flowers) are poisonous
