Populus x canadensis

  • Height: up to 30 m, fast-growing
  • Trunk: grey bark
  • Crown: broad, widely spreading crown
  • Leaves: triangular to rhombic in shape, pointed, 7–10 cm long, finely toothed margin, flattened petiole, reddish
  • Flowers: reddish, pendulous male catkins and greenish female catkins in March/April before leaf emergence
  • Fruits/Seeds: two-valved capsules with hairy seeds in May/June
  • Other: Hybrid of Canadian and native black poplar
