  • Height: medium-sized tree, up to 15 m
  • Trunk: smooth bark at first, light to dark grey-brown bark flaking off in scales with age
  • Crown: mostly broad
  • Leaves: elliptical to ovate, up to 12 cm long, soft-haired underside
  • Flowers: white to pink flowers, in April/May
  • Fruits/seeds: edible fruit, green to red depending on species
  • Other: around 30,000 different apple varieties worldwide, 2,000 in Germany
